This collection reflects the breadth of our skills and our dedication to achieving outstanding results across various industries.

Restoring the Legacy of Colonel J.R.M. Chard

One of our most cherished restoration projects was the repair of a plaque dedicated to Colonel J.R.M. Chard, a historical figure famously depicted in the film Zulu, where he was portrayed by Michael Caine. This project held particular significance for us, as Zulu is Adrian’s mother’s favourite film. The movie recounts the harrowing Battle of Rorke’s Drift during the Anglo-Zulu War, where a small British garrison of just over 150 men successfully defended a remote outpost against an overwhelming Zulu force of approximately 4,000 warriors. Colonel Chard played a pivotal role in this heroic defence, for which he was awarded the Victoria Cross, one of the highest honours for bravery in the British armed forces.

The plaque, having suffered years of wear and dirt accumulation, was in desperate need of care. We approached the restoration with the utmost respect and dedication, knowing the historical importance and personal connection it held. After meticulous cleaning and repair work, we were thrilled to bring the plaque back to its original greatness, ensuring that the legacy of Colonel Chard and the bravery of Rorke’s Drift are preserved for generations to come.

Honouring the Memory of Violet Constance Jessop

One of our most heartfelt restoration projects was repairing the foundation of Violet Constance Jessop’s headstone. Known as the “Queen of Sinkings,” Violet’s life story is nothing short of remarkable. She was a stewardess and nurse who survived the sinking of the RMS Titanic, as well as two other maritime disasters – the collision of the RMS Olympic and the sinking of the HMHS Britannic. Her resilience in the face of such unimaginable events is a testament to her strength and courage.

Moved by her extraordinary life and legacy, we undertook the repair of her gravestone out of the kindness of our hearts, ensuring her final resting place was treated with the utmost care and respect. The headstone’s foundation had suffered from years of wear and instability, threatening its structure. We meticulously repaired and reinforced it, guaranteeing that it will stand safely for many years to come. It was an honour to help preserve the memory of such an incredible woman, whose life story continues to inspire.

Preserving the Iconic Mile Markers of History

One of our most rewarding projects involved the meticulous hand-painting of a classic milestone, an enduring symbol of Britain’s rich history. These mile markers, often found along old roads and telling travellers how far a village is from London, are both historic and iconic. They harken back to a time when journeys were measured with care and roads were marked by craftsmanship and tradition.

Aidan, with his exceptional skill in traditional signwriting, carefully restored the marker to its original beauty. Each stroke of paint was applied with precision and respect for the historical significance of the piece. These milestones are more than just functional objects; they are a tangible link to the past, and it was an honour to preserve this part of our shared heritage. Thanks to Aidan’s dedication, the milestone once again stands proudly, guiding travellers and serving as a reminder of our nation’s storied history.

Restoring the Beauty of Sacred Spaces

Adrian recently had the privilege of preserving a church’s stunning architecture by restoring its historic stained glass windows. Churches are not just places of worship; they are masterpieces of design, with intricate details that tell stories of faith, history, and artistry. Adrian approached this project with reverence, carefully using original pieces of glass wherever possible to maintain the authenticity and character of the windows.

Each pane was meticulously cleaned, repaired, and re-leaded, ensuring the windows would continue to illuminate the church with their vibrant beauty for generations to come. The delicate balance of preservation and restoration required patience and expertise, but the result was a triumph of craftsmanship and respect for tradition. By preserving these windows, Adrian not only honoured the legacy of the original artisans but also ensured the church remains a beacon of inspiration and heritage for its community.
